Training program

FitzGerald offers a dynamic and exciting training program, with trainees working directly with lead partners on a wide variety of matters ranging from general corporate to dispute resolution and intellectual property. Through our Asia-Pacific footprint we are able to provide trainees with a truly international experience. Our trainees are empowered from the start to make real contributions to our client matters – giving them direct and practical hands-on experience, while encouraging lateral thinking and problem solving. Currently we take 1 trainee solicitor each year and recruit a year in advance. Our next intake is September 2019. We offer competitive salaries/benefits and aim to retain all of our trainees upon completion of their training contracts. Candidates should hold an upper second class law degree (2:1 or equivalent). Chinese is not a requirement but is a distinct advantage, as are other languages. 

Internships

FitzGerald offers summer and winter legal intern placements.  Internships are generally for four weeks. Interns work directly with partners and other senior lawyers.  Applications for Northern hemisphere winter 2017 and summer 2018 are now open.

FitzGerald Lawyers is now recruiting out of our Hong Kong office as we expand our international outlook.

You should have 5-8 years of international corporate legal experience gained in an international or leading domestic law firm environment and possess the following:

  • experience in general corporate, M&A, capital markets, commercial contracts;
  • strong client focus and willingness to form enduring relationships;
  • desire to work in a highly collaborative and collegiate environment; and
  • pride in your work and who you work for.

We prefer candidates with Hong Kong experience and relevant contacts in the region.  You should also be admitted in Hong Kong, the UK or another Commonwealth jurisdiction.  You do not need to speak Chinese (Cantonese or Putonghua) but this is a distinct advantage, as are other languages.

Litigation legal assistant

You should have 2 or more years experience at a Hong Kong law firm and:
